This is much more than just a pub. It’s a national icon, a restaurant, bar, shop and social hub that services every demographic in the area, from the nursery group to the elderly.

A VIBRANT, WELCOMING COMMUNITY

The Eagles is the heart of the community and it has already demonstrated its viability and potential to grow and thrive. Now is our chance to safeguard this incredible asset on behalf of our community.

Grisial Llewelyn (Chair)

A solicitor and director in a legal company with offices in North Wales and Cheshire. She specialises in family law and child protection law. Originally from Llanuwchllyn, Grisial returned here to live and raise a family and is the former chair of the local Cylch Meithrin committee.

Gwenllian Roberts (Deputy Chair)

Gwenllian has worked in the economic development field and the energy, environmental and steel sectors for over twenty years. She is currently responsible for the economic regulation of the water sector in Wales and the regulator’s engagement with the Wales and UK Governments. A wife and a mother of three, she is passionate about Llanuwchllyn’s vibrant community.

Huw Antur (Secretary)

A member of Llanuwchllyn Community Council, chair of the village hall committee and secretary of Awen Meirion Cyf. and Cwmni Pum Plwy Penllyn Cyf. Huw was managing director of Gwersyll yr Urdd Glan-llyn from 2007 until 2023 and has recently been appointed as Cyngor Gwynedd’s Community Support Officer for Bala and Penllyn.

Llyr Jones (Treasurer)

Vice-president of Mastercard and part of the team responsible for the security of Critical National Infrastructure (BACS systems and Faster Payments) for the UK, Canada, Scandinavia and Latin America. Before joining Mastercard, he was a Vice-President at Visa. He is a member of the Institute of Directors and an adviser to many Fintech Startups. His connections with Llanuwchllyn derive from his partner Llinos, who was born and bred in the village. After periods working abroad and in London and Cardiff, they both moved to Llanuwchllyn in 2011.

Alwyn E Jones

The former head of Human Resources for Cyngor Gwynedd, Alwyn has worked in local government for over 40 years. A Justice of the Peace, a governor of Ysgol Godre’r Berwyn, and a member of Llanuwchllyn Community Council, the governing board of Cwmni Theatr Maldwyn, Cwmni Pum Plwy Penllyn and the Board of Trustees of Ynys Enlli.

Elfyn Llwyd

A former MP for the area, Elfyn has put his legal expertise to work as a lawyer and barrister since 1976. He has extensive experience of governance after six years on the Council of Aberystwyth University, of which he has since September 2021 been Pro-Chancellor. His interests include history, reading, fishing, pigeon breeding and travelling.

Gruffudd Antur

A researcher at the University of Wales Centre for Advanced Welsh and Celtic Studies, poet and editor. He was recently appointed co-adjudicator of the Ymryson at the National Eisteddfod and is a keen member of Eryrod Meirion.

Euros Roberts

Born and bred in Llanuwchllyn, Euros is a farmer and co-director of a company in the renewable energy field. His interests include singing, acting and sports of all kinds.

Llinos Jones-Williams

Llinos runs a family farm and an alternative camping business. She works at Gwersyll yr Urdd, Glan-llyn, and is also a supply teacher and teaches Welsh to adults. She organises local events that combine her interest in music, culture, history, legend and outdoor activities.

Osian Huw Williams

A musician who is a member of many bands, Osian is a partner in a recording business based at Stiwdio Sain. He has lived in the village all his life and is acutely aware of the value of vibrant communities such as that in Llanuwchllyn.

Gareth Llewelyn Williams

Born in Llanycil, Gareth lives in Llanuwchllyn and has run a local business for over 35 years.

Steffan Prys Roberts

The son of a farmer, Steffan has over a decade’s experience of organising cultural events with Eisteddfod yr Urdd and the National Eisteddfod, having joined the latter after a brief period as a Community Support Officer for Cyngor Gwynedd. His main interests are singing and performing as a soloist and as a member of local choirs and Cwmni Theatr Maldwyn.

Alan Jones Evans

The Councillor for the Llanuwchllyn ward on Cyngor Gwynedd, Alan has a keen interest in poetry and folk literature.

Irwyn Jones

An estate agent by trade, Irwyn is a member of Côr Godre’r Aran and is interested in sports of all kinds.
